PROBLEM W/88 ACURA INTEGRA

I have 1988 acura integra that won’t start. It has 300,000 miles and
probly
needs a little work. It worked up until about 3 months ago. One of my
friends says it sounds like it’s not getting compression. It was borrowed
by this guy I know for about 6 months and I told him to replace timing
belt and water pump.(back when it ran) The timing belt on it now looks
new
but could it be off time just enough to let it run for a while and then
quit. Please help. It would be a god send.

Need help with automotive project

Please, help out our graduate school marketing project by responding to
this brief survey.  So far, we have only received 26 responses to the
survey request.  We need to compile 100 responses or more.

http://www.surveydiscovery.com/viewsurvey.php?surveyid=212&mode=view

I and my project team mates are graduate students at California State
University at Los Angeles working on a marketing communications plan
for Cadillac as a class assignment.
Rivalry and competition among automakers is never ending.  For a long
time now, GM has been losing market share.  Acura, Audi, BMW, Infiniti,
Lexus, and others have captured the hearts of an important segment of
the American automobile buying public.  GM portrays Cadillac as a
symbol of freedom and youthful vitality, a young person’s automobile,
one that appeals to all generations.
Did GM "breakthrough" with Cadillac?  Is today’s new Cadillac
comparable in class and luxury with those during Cadillac glory days?
Is the new Cadillac the defining experience of automotive luxury?
Please let me and my team members know how you feel about these
questions and about Cadillac, by completing the brief survey at

http://www.surveydiscovery.com/viewsurvey.php?surveyid=212&mode=view

To those who do us the kind favor of submitting a completed survey,
Jean, Wai, Joe, Bill, Jacqueline, and John say Thank You; your luxury
car kind of people!

Will there be a mid year RL model coming out at the end of summer

Does anyone know if there will be a mid year (middle of 2006 – a 2006
and a half) model change to the RL (or even the TL)?  I must buy a new
car this year and would just as soon wait a few months and get the
later model that may have minor changes and fixes that are not included
in the current year’s model.  Does Acura or Honda as a rule have mid
year model upgrades.  Thanks.

75K Maintance on 2000 Acura TL

I bought the car without the owners manual. My check engine light came
on 150 miles before my 3k oil change. Is there anything that needs to
be done besides the oil?

Note: Bought with 69K, was Certified from Clair Acura in Massachusetts.

Any help is appreciated

If possible email me directly at   andrew.moro…@gmail.com or post
here :)

Thankyou

Acura TL for rent

I am in the Los Angeles area.  I currently have a 2003 CL.  I have a meeting
in Lake Havasu Az this Friday and wanted to find a new TL to rent, to see
how it compares to my CL.  Acura USA, Hertz,  and a local Acura dealer are
of no help.  Any ideas?

Car vibrates when brakes applied and in gear

Hi,

92 Teg.  When I come to an intersection and stop, my car vibrates.
Vibration seems to be affected if I press my brake down harder and then
release it slightly.  When in neutral or park, no vibration at all.  My idle
is around 950 rpm.

First thing that comes to mind is the motor mount, but if it’s the motor
mount, wouldn’t the vibration also happen when in neutral or park?

Any other possibilities?

Thanx for any advice.

91 Legend Engine Smoking

My 91 Legend has 174,000 miles and is smoking and I suspect it is worn
valve guides (it only smokes on starting and while sitting at a stop
light). Several mechanics have said when repairing the valve guides,
you also need to repair the bottom end of the engine (or just get a
newer engine). The reason given is that when the top part is repaired,
it will give more power and then the weakened bottom end might fail
also.

I tend to disagree with this but would like some expert opinions. I
recently did several full acceleration runs of 0 to 60 and clocked
about 8.2 seconds – slightly slower than the original 8.0 seconds. If
the bottom end was weak then it would have failed under this full load.

So the main question is: Is it reasonable to just repair the valve
guides and leave the rest of the engine alone – is the Legend engine
strong enough to just have to repair the top part? I would of course do
a leak down test and compression test to validate my theory. Of course,
if a complete engine overhaul cost just a few $100s more than just the
valve guides, I would do that.

2nd question:
Can the valve guide repair be done without removing the heads?  On some
engines, you can use compressed air to help do the job.  My mechanic
says he would not know until he removed all the equipment above the
heads.  Any advice on this would be appreciated.
Thanks, RIck

Tachometer bounces up before settling down

Hi all,

92 Teg. Recently I’ve noticed that when I come to a stop, my tachometer
would always bounce back up to around 1700 RPM before settling back down to
850 RPM (my IDLE).

Anyone knows what could be causing the tachometer to bounce up before
settling down? Could it be a leak in one of the hose?

Thanx in advance.
