I have a 99 TL 35k miles no major problems. Dealer fixed center arm rest
rattle and sunroof rattle.

The only thing that bothers me is that my car remote sometimes does not work
(takes 8 to 10 tries). It happens randomly. My friend with 99 TL said he
noticed that if he parks near Toyota or Lexus, the problem occurs?! Anyone
experiencing the remote problem? Dealer said it's near "power grid".
If you are buying new then you have no real worries with a 50K/4 yr
warranty.

I bought a 2002 TL Type S this weekend and I love it. Doesn't feel like a
big car at all and has NICE power with a great auto (pity there's no six
speed). Its incredible value for money. I had a Solara SEV6 manual before
this and this car is a LOT nicer.

I also drove the Lexus GS400, the Volvo S60, a Merc C320, and BMW's 530i.
This car is better than them all IMHO.

--D

"Dib" <datt...@mcmaster.nospam.ca> wrote in message

news:993m2g$js0$1@informer1.cis.McMaster.CA...

- Hide quoted text -- Show quoted text -
> I am considering buying a TL (possibly the Type-S) and would like to know
> about any problems I should look out for. Basically the quality. I don't
> want to be replacing major parts a few months after buying the car. My
other
> choice is the Infiniti I30. If anyone could contribute some of their
> experiences with the TL it would help me out a lot. Thanks.

> Dib

Dib,

I am also considering the Type-S along with the Infiniti I30t (Touring) and
the Volvo S60 2.4T.
If the TL-S hadn't come out I wouldn't consider it, since I didn't like the
seats in the plain TL. The seats in the "S" look to be much more supportive.
I'll have to drive one and check it out.

Rick

"Dib" <datt...@mcmaster.nospam.ca> wrote in message

news:993m2g$js0$1@informer1.cis.McMaster.CA...

- Hide quoted text -- Show quoted text -
> I am considering buying a TL (possibly the Type-S) and would like to know
> about any problems I should look out for. Well, they have a 4 year 50,000 mile warranty so you won't be replacing
parts
at your expense. In my area they also give you a free loaner if the repairs
will
take longer than a day.

All that said, my 99 TL has had nothing but routine maintenance in over 2
yrs.

Bob B.

"Dib" <datt...@mcmaster.nospam.ca> wrote in message

news:993m2g$js0$1@informer1.cis.McMaster.CA...

- Hide quoted text -- Show quoted text -
> I am considering buying a TL (possibly the Type-S) and would like to know
> about any problems I should look out for.
